Hundreds of families are eating elephant meat tonight. Here the truck arrives with the elephant carcass in the village. This particular village is home to some 600 people. As the people start gathering to collect meat they are singing and celebrating. Botswana is home to hundreds of thousands of elephants. These elephants cause tremendous damage to crops and are responsible for killing numerous people every year. The local people that live with these elephants want us to hunt them. There are to many elephants in Botswana and the numbers need to be controlled. A large percentage of the money generated from an elephant hunt goes back into the communities surrounding the hunting area, uplifting the standard of life for the local people. When wildlife has value it is protected.
